I took on the character description video assignment. The directions were to take a few clips to describe a character. My one character, Cleo Barrow, wouldn’t be complete without her Bonnie, so I made it a video about both of them. I was inspired by the trailer for the 1967 Bonnie and Clyde movie. Then I used clips from the avicii music video, “Addicted to You,” for the girls because it was the inspiration for the characters. I used the song Sundown from Free Music Archive.
For the title cards I probably could have remade them completely, but I cheated and just took it from the trailer and used photoshop to put in the pictures of the girls. If it were a design assignment I would have remade the title cards but I wanted to focus my time and efforts on the video editing part. I used the selection tool and mask to cut out the parts I wanted from the screenshots I took from the trailer. For the “they kill people part” I made the text myself because it was easier than cutting it out from the trailer. Below is the outer glow settings I used to emulate the style of the text in the trailer.
I spent the first half of my time trying to figure out how to use windows movie maker and yelling at my computer because it wouldn’t do what I wanted it to do and I didn’t really have a direction at the beginning. But I got it worked out! Mostly I used the split tool and moved clips around. I realized after I uploaded the video that I forgot to fade the music out and the end and fade the video to black.. so just imagine that it does
I really loved the collaboration aspect of doing the radio shows. It was so great to get to bounce ideas off of others. I think I might have worked harder and thought harder than I would have if I were working on my own because I wanted to keep up with the rest of my group members. I almost wish we were made to meet up with people on a weekly/bi-weekly/every-so-often basis. Like if Groom met with a few people at a time to talk about how things are going. The only thing I wish could have been done differently would have been to have more time together. After the show, Lesya talked about how we split up the final editing into different parts. I liked how that went, but I think it would have been nice for us all to be together while doing it to ask about little choices. One of the harder things for me was facing the sound of my own voice on recording. That’s always weird though, I think. I liked getting the criticisms and comments on twitter and seeing people’s blog posts about the show. I know it wasn’t a perfect show, but I think for our first try at a project like this it was great. And so I guess that’s a wrap for vixen’s ventures.
I listened to Inside Talking tonight and thought it was great! I think working in the sound booth really helped them out. The sound was really clear and there were no distracting background noises. Then they did a “real good” job on their sound effects; it was nothing too over the top, and the audience reactions were perfectly timed. I heard they were doing improv for their show and at first I wasn’t sure about it but it really turned out well! I also am a fan of the talk show idea to include everyone’s characters and get to know them all on a deep level. And I really liked how they tied in the commercials to parts of the story.
watch on tuesday 3-17, it’ll be the second show! for real watch it. bonnie and cleo are amazing criminals and cute to boot! will the vixen vigilante get the jump on them and rescue her stolen painting? tune in tomorrow! or here if you don’t feel like waiting. this has been a psa
For a sketchbook assignment in high school I had to come up with something to do for a free day, and what I made then inspired me to create this assignment! My goal was to practice graphic design without using a computer and putting it in a page of my sketchbook. I was inspired by you-tuber Karen Kavett and her series of graphic design videos. I took out elements from a russian magazine my teacher let me use and laid them out to my own design. I liked using the russian one because it forced me to not care what the words said and focus on the layout. In retrospect I think I could have used more negative space, but I’m still pleased with mine.
The left image is mine and the right is an example by Karen Kavett.
Week 7 may be over but our team is as #4life as ds106.
“Select 5 emojis and use them as a prompt for a unique story. Screenshot your emojis and add link to your story below. If you are on Twitter then you can emojinate in one click!” okay this dc is really cute so here goes mine!
Okay so me and my cuddle-bug were going on a ski trip for spring break because for some reason we have a backwards spring break and it’s actually winter. Anyway we got there and totally chickened out and just stood outside freezing to death.
